April 6: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhara Rao, on Wednesday announced a series of programmes to be taken up to mark the party’s tenth founding anniversary. The programme will include performing Chandi Yagam on the outskirts of the city.
Talking to the media, Mr Rao said the Chandi Yagam, which will be performed by him at the former MP Jitender Reddy’s farm house near Chilkur, is “to seek divine blessings for the division of AP state and the formation of Telangana State soon”. Mr Rao said the Yagam will also pray for prosperity for the Telangana region. Beginning from April 14 to April 24, he said there will be different programmes each day in all municipal towns and rural areas in Telangana. Hoisting the party flag, feeding the poor, writers’ meets etc will be among the events.
He decried the decision of the state government in leasing out the Bibinagar campus of NIMS which was built at a cost of Rs 100 crore by the late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He said the TRS will resist any move to privatise government assets in the region. He said the party is still hopeful of getting permission to hold a public meeting on April 27 at Secunderabad Parade Grounds, and if it is denied, the meeting will be held in Mahbubnagar.
