Performance Engineer
Job Summary:
As a performance engineer in the Technology Enablement and Solutions Organization (TESO), you will be responsible for modeling, measurement, and analysis of storage system performance in the context of different application workloads. While your work as a member of the team will be varied, the main focus will be in executing necessary tests, collecting performance data and analyzing the data in order to do several things:
-Characterize storage performance for different end user workloads.
- Detect performance overhead issues, explain the root cause and collaborate with other teams on optimal solutions
- Benchmark/ track performance progress against predefined goals and propose/prescribe implementation improvements.
- Analyze performance across several metrics and along several dimensions.
Essential Functions:
Create and execute test plans to capture storage performance for pre-defined application workloads
- Draft test plans and execute tests to characterize performance of end to end application solutions on NetApp storage.
- Analysis of test results covering a broad combined set of features, hardware platforms, workloads and protocols.
-Provide Sizing guidelines to customers and other internal teams.
- Develop performance measurement and analysis tools and provide instrumentation for measurability.
- Lead and Participate in technical discussions within the immediate group and across functions, which may include articulating performance metrics, and brainstorming of solutions for addressing performance overhead
-Lab management functions as required to maintain the engineer's lab equipment setup and tear down.
Job Requirements:
The qualified candidate will have at least 6 years of experience in sizing, performance analysis, and troubleshooting of computer storage systems.

- Ability to deliver training materials and/or other group communications in a clear and professional manner.

- Strong working knowledge of some data protection technologies.

- This individual must work effectively with Staff to Vice President level employees within the function, and the technical team on assigned projects. There may be communication with employees in other functions as required.
- Limited management direction is provided to employee on new projects or assignments as well as review of activities and priorities.
- The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert on team projects.
- To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results through coaching and influencing others.
Desired Candidate Profile:-
Education & Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience is required;
- A Bachelor of Arts of Science Degree is required, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
- Project management experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of NetApp solutions is preferred.
